World Books and Copyright Day

Library and Media Centre of PM SHRI KV No.3 Mamun Cantt Pathankot Punjab celebrated World Books and Copyright Day on 22.April.2024.
The purpose of World Book and Copyright Day is to encourage people to read and appreciate books. Every year on April 23, ceremonies are held all throughout the world to honor the importance of books as a bridge across generations and cultures, as well as a link between the past and the future. This year, the World Book Capital is chosen by UNESCO and the international organizations that represent the three main book business sectors—publishers, booksellers, and libraries—to sustain the momentum of the Day's celebrations for a year through their own activities.

A significant date in world literature is April 23. This date marks the passing of a number of well-known writers, including Miguel de Cervantes, Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, and William Shakespeare. The General Conference of UNESCO, which took place in Paris in 1995, made the decision to honor books and writers globally on this day in order to promote book access for everyone.

KVS Logo

During the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh presented the organization's new emblem.

The new logo has the tri-color book portrayed in a way that also gives the idea of soaring birds, a rising sun, and the number 50 in the center, which signifies the year of the golden jubilee (1963–2013).
